The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s MuseumLab is the first museum to receive isUD™ certification from the IDEA Center, recognizing its commitment to universal design principles. MuseumLab, catering to children aged 10 and above, transformed the historic 1890 Carnegie Free Library into an inclusive space that harmoniously blends original architectural elements with modern design. Throughout the restoration, the MuseumLab team collaborated with the IDEA Center to ensure accessibility and inclusivity, resulting in a facility that serves as a model for integrating universal design in cultural institutions.
